Deepika Padukone has joined the initiative by the World Health Organisation, titled the ‘Safe Hands’ challenge, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The Bollywood star was nominated by the Director-General of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, for the challenge that requires one to share an instructional video on washing hands.

Thanking Ghebreyesus for nominating her, the actress said in her post, “#COVID19 surely is an uphill health and public safety task, but all of us are in this fight together!”

She further went on to nominate footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli and tennis ace Roger Federer.

For her video, Deepika dressed in a bathrobe and even wore an N95 mask.

In a bid to spread the word all across the globe, celebrities and public personalities have been nominated to promote the campaign. Apart from Deepika, Unicef ambassador Priyanka Chopra, and Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger, American model Christy Turlington among many others were also selected for the challenge.

The outbreak of coronavirus led to the cancellation of major events and has also been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation.
