PM Modi to leave for Japan to attend 14th G20 Summit today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today leave for Japan to attend the 14th G20 Summit in Osaka on 28th and 29th of this month.

The theme of the summit is Human centred future society. Food security, energy security, financial stability, terrorism-related issues, Innovation in the digital economy and artificial intelligence will be discussed.

Former Union Minister Suresh Prabhu is Prime Minister’s Sherpa at the summit.

On Tuesday, he attended the G20 Sherpa meeting to prepare for Prime Minister’s Summit with G-20 leaders.

In a tweet, Suresh Prabhu said, global issues are being discussed at intense negotiations and India’s priorities were highlighted for global good. 

More than 20 countries will be participating in the G20 Summit.Informal meeting of the BRICS leaders and bilateral meetings with other leaders would also take place on the sidelines of the summit.

India has participated in all the Summits held so far. It will host the G20 summit in 2022 for the first time.
