Target of housing for all to be achieved by 2020, says Government

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri has expressed confidence that the target of completion of constructions of all houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Urban will be achieved by the end of 2020 as against the target of 2022.

Hardeep Puri said this while addressing media in New Delhi on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of Urban Missions of PMAY(U), Smart Cities Mission and Atal Mission for Rejuvenation -AMRUT.

Puri said, the validated demand for total houses under the scheme is one crore and so far more than 81 lakh houses have been sanctioned.

He said, sanctioning of all the houses will be made by 1st quarter of next year. Mr Puri expressed hope that all the houses will be handed over to the beneficiaries by 2020.

The Minister said, an investment of eight lakh crore rupees has been made in these three schemes of  PMAY, Smart Cities and AMRUT.
