Resident Doctors Association call off strike at AIIMS

The Resident Doctors Association at AIIMS in New Delhi, who observed a symbolic strike over violence against doctors in West Bengal, today announced to end their strike.

Showing solidarity with protesting doctors in Kolkata, doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) wore bandages and helmets as a sign of protest on Friday.

Condemning the attitude of West Bengal govt, the executive body of Resident Doctors Association of AIIMS in a statement said that it remains committed to fight atrocities being borne by the young doctors and that it stands in solidarity with all the associations across the nation.

The RDA also expressed gratitude to union health minister Dr. Harsh Varshan for his prompt and proactive steps to resolve the issue.

Earlier on Friday, Junior doctors at the premier AIIMS met Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan seeking the Centre’s intervention in the matter. The Health Minister responded after meeting the striking doctors appealing to West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee to sort out the entire situation.
