Eid-Ul-Fitr is being celebrated today

Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated across the country with religious fervour. President Ram Nath Kovind greets fellow citizens on this auspicious occasion.

Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the holy month of Ramzan, is being celebrated across the country following the sighting of the moon. Special prayers are being held as part of celebrations.

The festival is celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The festival is marked with feasts and the meeting of families, relatives, and friends, where they exchange greetings and gifts with each other. 

President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu have greeted fellow citizens on the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr. The President in a tweet said “EidMubarak to all fellow citizens, especially to our Muslim brothers and sisters in India and abroad. The festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr strengthens our belief in charity, fraternity and compassion. May this happy occasion bring joy and prosperity to everyone’s lives.”

Extending greeting on Eid, The Vice President tweeted “It inspires mankind to enshrine the values of truthfulness and compassion in their day- to- day actions and conduct. May this festival bring peace, harmony, prosperity, happiness, friendship & fraternity among all people.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also extended greeting on Eid-Ul-Fitr.
