Digital India empowered people, reduced corruption: PM Modi

On the fourth anniversary of Narendra Modi’s government flagship programme ‘Digital India’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the initiative has empowered people, reduced corruption and improved public service delivery to benefit the poor.

India has emerged as a digitally empowered nation. But more needs to be done to transform everyday lives. Since its launch in 2015 by PM Narendra Modi, the Digital India initiative has achieved many milestones.

Digital India was launched with an objective of connecting rural areas with high-speed Internet networks and improving digital literacy.

To commemorate 4 years of Digital India initiative, Union Minister of Electronics & IT and Law & Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad will attend a commemorative event in New Delhi.

The minister will electronically launch SAMEER Centre for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects in Visakhapatnam, Wi-Fi enabled Campus Networks at Osmania University, Hyderabad and at North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and release a special issue of Yojana on Citizen Centric e-Services.
